ADHS Bureau of Emergency Medical Services & Trauma System
The Bureau of EMS and Trauma System has developed the following group of slides as a service to the public and the EMS community we serve. During the year, different facts & figures will be presented which represent trauma data collected and regulatory activity.
- EMS CONs by Region
- Number of Ambulances per 100,000 Residents
- EMS Run Volume by Region
The southeast region (Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties) has the largest number of Certificate of Necessity (CON)-holding Emergency Medical Service agencies. The central region (Gila, Maricopa, and Pinal Counties) has the largest number of Premier EMS Agencies, showing dedication to quality improvement.
While the central region has the largest number of registered ground ambulances in the state, the northern and western regions have the most ground ambulances per 100,000 residents. This does not include air ambulances, as air ambulance coverage areas often span large, multi-regional areas.
The central region, the most populous region, has the largest number of EMS runs in the state. Advanced Life Support is provided in two thirds of the EMS runs in the state, and accounts for 86% and 80% of the runs in the western and northern regions respectively.
