There are several local county health offices, in addition to the State Office
of Vital Records, where you can obtain certified copies of birth and death
certificates. Some of the county health offices will have death certificates
available for copying for up to 30 days after the date of death. Others will
have them for a much shorter time and some not at all. Some of the County
Offices sell certified copies of birth certificates for births that occurred
after 1989.
