Welcome to the Division of Public Health Services. Our mission within the Arizona Department of Health Services is to protect and improve the public's health through prevention and control of disease and disability.

Prevention focuses on improving the healthcare workforce with recruitment and retention programs, reducing obesity rates, increase breastfeeding, help people to quit smoking, and reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases.
Being prepared for threats to public health in Arizona is the aim of Preparedness. Being ready to prevent, react to, and quickly recover from a public health threat is critical for protecting and fortifying our state's health.
Licenses and monitors health, child care facilities and providers throughout Arizona. Licensing inspections, on-site surveys, and complaint investigations are conducted to promote quality care and safety and ensure that performance standards are met for facility operation and maintenance.
