Information for School and Childcare

This Fall, for the first time, Arizona children 11 years and older entering 6th and 7th grades will be required to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease (with the quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine, MCV4) and pertussis (with the tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis vaccine, Tdap) prior to school entry if 5 years have passed since their last tetanus/diphtheria containing vaccination.

We are pleased to offer materials to supplement your existing efforts to educate parents about the importance of preventing these diseases. These materials can be downloaded free of charge. We encourage you to share them with parents, students, and school faculty and staff.

Find out if your children’s shots are up-to-date in accordance with the new 2009-2010 school year immunization requirements.

It's best for children to receive immunizations at their "medical home"; however, free immunizations for children under age 19 are available throughout the state. Find out where to get immunizations.

Recommended Immunization Schedules are updated at least once a year - this is the most current version.

What childhood diseases can immunizations prevent? 90,000+ children are born in Arizona each year, and protecting them from 13 vaccine preventable diseases is the first step to a healthy future.
