Mission

To facilitate collaboration among public health, healthcare, pre-hospital entities, and various community partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from an emergency or disaster.

Background

The Western Healthcare Coalition is home to approximately 423,640 Arizonans, and is 23,325 square miles. This coalition consists of three rural counties (La Paz, Mohave, and Yuma), and community primary industry is agriculture. With the support of public health emergency preparedness coordinators, these rural communities have been meeting regularly. This geographic area also includes a major river, colleges, and many tourist destinations as well as:

  • Two major interstates
  • Several state highways
  • Seven hospitals
  • One international border county
