The Department will accept petitions to add to the list of debilitating medical conditions from July 24 to 28, 2017. Petitions will be accepted via U.S Mail only at P.O Box 19000, Phoenix, AZ 85005 and must be postmarked by the last day of the petition cycle.
As a result of HB 2061, the Arizona Department of Health Services has adopted rules warning of potential risks related to medical marijuana and pregnancy. The rules require each certifying physician to address "the potential dangers to fetuses caused by smoking or ingesting marijuana while pregnant or to infants while breastfeeding and the risk of being reported to the Department of Child Safety during pregnancy or at the birth of the child by persons who are required to report." Effective June 6, 2017 certifying physicians must use the new Physician Certification form which complies with the amended rules.
