Office of Epidemic Detection and Response

The Office of Epidemic Detection and Response was created to protect the public health by providing microbiological testing for select agents to detect outbreaks of disease, both natural and intentional.  This office is also responsible for the training of facilities, such as hospitals, throughout the State of Arizona in the early detection of these agents.
Staff is available at the State Public Health Laboratory 7 days a week from 8:00am to 5:00 pm.  Testing is also available 24 hours a day on an emergency basis and can be coordinated with the Bureau of Public Health Emergency Preparedness

New LRN-B App for Ipads

A new application is available to aid in laboratory rule out- refer decisions. The Rule-Out Refer app from the LRN is available free of charge for all labs to access information related to the rule-out or refer process for select agents. The application includes identification flowcharts derived from ASM, accompanied by images (colony and gram stain morphology) and video examples of biochemical test results. It also provides information and links regarding biosafety, shipping, and select agent compliance. The app is available for iPads and can be found in the Apple App Store.
