The FIT at Fifty HealthCheck Program (FFHP) is part of the Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is supported through the CDC and Arizona Tobacco Tax funds. The program has two components: screening provision, to provide free colorectal cancer screening for the uninsured; and screening promotion, to increase screening rates among the uninsured and insured.

Screening Provision

The FIT at Fifty HealthCheck program provides colorectal cancer screening and diagnostic services to low-income men and women ages 50-64 years who are uninsured. The services provided through FFHP include:

  • FIT Test
  • Colonoscopy
  • Office Visits (relating to colon cancer screening or diagnostic tests)
  • Diagnostic Services
    • Anesthesia
    • Pathology
  • Referral for Treatment

Screening Promotion

The FIT at Fifty HealthCheck program uses evidence-based strategies recommended by the Task Force on Community Preventive Services to increase colorectal cancer screening. The program also collaborates with the Arizona Cancer Control Program and other partners to share resources and to improve screening rates throughout Arizona.

When possible, colorectal cancer screening services are integrated with the Well Woman HealthCheck program so that women that qualify for both programs are screened for breast and cervical cancer as well.
