Arizona Clinical Research Consortium
The Arizona Clinical Research Consortium (ACRC) is designed to facilitate collaborations of community physicians and clinical research leaders to increase clinical trials activities in the state. The approach of ACRC is not to operate clinical trials, but to facilitate collaboration of community physicians with research leaders, organized around disease areas.
Activities to Date
- Developed a proposed model for an Arizona Clinical Research Consortium. Pilot Initiative Proposal
- The first pilot of this effort is being advanced in the area of degenerative neurological diseases such as MS. A planning meeting for the MS clinical research consortium pilot was held on October 17, 2006 with nine physicians present (a mix of research leaders and community physicians), at which Dr. Timothy Vollmer from Barrow Neurological Institute and Dr. Barry Hendin from Banner Health presented information about the ACRC.
- Follow up discussions have involved 7 of the physicians and 2 to 3 community physicians are likely to participate in the initial two clinical trials identified.
