Medical Direction Commission (MDC)

The Medical Direction Commission (MDC) was formed to carry out the duties described in A.R.S. § 36-2203.01. The Commission is composed of a select group of physicians appointed to assist the ADHS Director in developing medical protocols governing the medical treatments, procedures, medications, training and techniques that may be administered or performed by each class of emergency medical technicians. The Protocols, Medications, and Devices (PMD) Sub-Committee defines the scope and interprets prehospital medical care, principles and practices for the Commission and to review and recommend changes or additions to the drug box and use of new medical devices.
